Equine Art

Here’s my latest equine painting. It’s 36×48″, acrylic on canvas, available now.

The rustic feel is matched with a modern and light handling, bridging the gap between contemporary and traditional. I’m interested in the message of fraternity and healthy relationships.

Social Media

Yes, Liam is on social media.  To paint full time, one needs to market and get out there.  So, embracing the world of social media, Jones would like you to know some interesting facts, that may draw you into his world of wierdness, and make you happy you went there.

He is single.

He has a daughter.  He’s a single dad.

He is tall.  6′ 3″ to be exact.

He likes to box and work out.

He likes video games, but never spends enough time to actually get good at them.

He’s a musician and a singer, specializing in soul music.  Yes, a white guy singing soul.  Play that funky music.  White boy.

He digs jazz.  Man.

He likes to cook and watches the food network.

He’s a Christian.  This is his home church.

He likes Dave Ramsey.

He’s a little to the right politically, but still rolls with the lefty artist crowd.  That’s colourful, let me tell you.

He swears.  But usually only when angry.  Not for any other #$*@ing reason.

Liam is active online, and can be found being pithy, or sharing the latest painting.  Sometimes there are stories, sometimes random tidbits of nonsense.  He is also a fan of lolcats.  Seriously.  He enjoys writing, and among other things, referring to himself in third person.

Abstract Modern Art, Baby!

Excitement is an artist getting the time to paint from morning to morning.  I am LOVING this.  It was 4 am when this one was photographed:

"Ambience"

It’s a large one, too.  At 5′ long, it has quite an impact:

Homage to Cy Twombley

Cy Twombley was an amazing modern abstract painter who passed away last year. He did huge abstract paintings of peonies. I was inspired to paint something just that modern. I’ve found something personal and exciting for me in this more organic, “painterly” abstract series. These two canvases are six feet long, and three feet tall each. They are designed to be hung together, though each can can stand on its own.

Equestrian Painting Compliments “Rustic” Feel

"Together" 2011 installed and looking great

Some lovely folks came by the other day to purchase my latest Equestrian painting “Together”. This husband and wife team wanted to see it in person before they purchased it, and talk about a commission, to boot, so it was very exciting. They drove quite a distance from north of the city and we chatted for a while in the afternoon light in my backyard. They decided it worked for them and I asked that they send me some photos when it was up, and boy did they. I was floored. I mean, look at this place! This painting in two panels compliments their dark leather sofa, the beige walls and copper tiles beautifully. It’s a focal point without being out of place or overpowering. Awesome, guys! Thanks so much!

“I Really Think So” –New Original Modern Abstract Painting

This is a fun one, finished today, and available via my website, eBay or in person.  The price is $275.  What a steal!  I had a friend say it looks like a Betta fish.  I just about called it that, but stuck with my theme of conversation titles.  Hope you like it! Click on the painting to be taken my eBay store. If you’re interested in buying my work, you can contact me through this website, or through eBay.

Yes Really

“That is no match for wishful thinking!”

Wishful Thinking abstract painting 2011

Wishful Thinking

Abstract paintings that are bright and bold like this just do it for me.  The working title is “No Match For Wishful Thinking”.  Maybe it should be “Wishful Thinking”.  Maybe “The Power of Wishful Thinking”.

See, I’m a fan of animated movies.  Especially ones like “Ratatouille”, that speak of the things that are counter-intuitive to the crap of every day life.  I wax inspirational:  With all the bad news in Japan and unrest throughout the middle East, the recession, our crazy goverment and their posturing, the decline of the family unit… there’s so much bad out there, I say “That is no match for wishful thinking!”

I’m Baaaack!

If you’re new to my work, welcome!

It’s been over a year since I pretty much stopped marketing my work online. Life is like that sometimes. A parent passes away, and everything gets put on hold. Things change, and time just keeps on moving forward.

So this is my new website. Seriously, I can’t stand this computer business. It’s gives me grey hairs and a short temper, but if you’re an art lover and you’ve stumbled on my stuff through one of the many ways I’ve put “Liam Jones Fine Art” out there online, then it was worth it!

 Here’s to music and art!
